Kinja'd!!!

So, I'm pretty disappointed with Turn 10.

Yes, they're making a beautiful representation of the racing world with Forza Motorsport 5. Yes, they put the P1 in it (excited for it, but that's beside the point). But come one, 14 tracks? And they've removed a track that I've been to! I love Infineon! It's got to be one of my favorite tracks out there (Maple Valley being my favorite). Why Do you tease us with the most beautiful display of Forza graphics ever, and then completely drop the ball with content. I'm assuming it's going to be a lot like horizon, which debuted with what, 10 cars? (Sarcasm) I understand the point is to make money, and the way to do that these days is not with game sales, but with DLC. I get it. But come on! We want more! We don't want to wait.

Kinja'd!!!

Ok, here's how you fix it Turn 10: Give us all the tracks that we had in Forza 4. Give us every car that was in Forza 4 (Standard and DLC). Then, have some creative thought and give us DLC full of theoretical and conceptual raceways. Give us concept cars in the DLC. Give us stuff that no one would have ever thought to race. Give us more than 7 stages to Rally and how about something crazy like Monster Trucks or Motocross or something! Give us something we've never seen before!

Alright. I know that no one from Turn 10 will ever see this but it's how I feel. end of rant.

Axing Suzuka and the Nordschleife, too. Sometimes I really wonder if I even want a console anymore.

I know right! Suzuka was an always fun raceway and how can you get rid of the Nordschleife? That's got to be one of the most famous tracks that anyone not interested in cars would know about!

I have two money making words to explain how you'll get your tracks back.....

"Downloadable Content"

hopefully it isn't actually a money maker and just due tothe fact they are still working on the other tracks at a steady pace. I mean Poly and iRacing both take several months to a year worth of man hours to do each track and I think Turn 10 SAID they finally stepped their game up as far as data collection goes....

(meanwhile the guys at iRacing are like "thats cute")

It's stupid. Why would they think that adding a few fake tracks and removing actual existing tracks was a good move? That makes no sense. And yes. Fuck you EA. I fucking hate that the only way I can get a "Porsche" now is if I get a RUF. No. That's not cool.

Now that's where my problem lies. I've got a 360. I'm going to get a XBone (because of Halo and COD:Ghosts). But I don't have a PS3. It's hard for me to justify having both consoles when I've got a family to support as well.

The 'Ring will a future DLC.

They've already said as much, and to be honest their models for it in Three-tza and Fourtza weren't really all that good anyway.

I can understand why they'd take time to make it look better.

We have Fred Meyer's (which is for all intents and purposes, Kroger) here in Alaska. They decided to do some renovating and instead of just moving the current aisles a little closer (which would have made sense) they moved all the shit to a different part of the store. AND IT'S NOT EVEN PUT NEXT TO RELEVANT ITEMS! I found mashed potatoes next to 2 liter bottles of soda! What the hell?

Ok, that makes sense. But still, 500 to 200 cars? 26 to 14 tracks? That's not just a few less. They're both less than half of Fourza. Fiveza is going to cost the same as Fourza and have less than half the content. That doesn't make any sense.

Kinja'd!!!0

True.

Still playing devil's, they are having to update their models for everything to look as amazing as it does. That takes time, lots and lots and lots of time.

I agree that it's lame. I expect to see a great deal of DLC content to make up for the initial lack of everything.

That said, they will still probably not release enough tracks, or think to include things like tire wear, fuel use, the need for actual pit-stops, etc. Things that when turned on, make the game more difficult for those who play incessantly and have gotten bored with an easy game.

This is marvelous news to me, albeit at the expense of others. I traded in my 360 for a PS3 when GT5 came out, only to be disappointed. That changed to pissed when Forza 4 came out and was a much better game (in my mind). Now maybe, just maybe, if Polyphony lives up to the majority of the promises they've made for GT6, it will have been worth me sacrificing my Xbox.

Thing is, they started doing that with Horizon. They had some decent DLC but then, all of a sudden, nothing. And it was still surprisingly lacking. Another thing that pissed me off with Horizon was coming across the NPC driving the Saleen S5S. I love that car but was it available to me? Nope.

This is a dilemma, because I can see what Turn 10 / Microsoft is trying to pull (driving up DLC profit), yet we have all seen the other end of this when a developer tries to pump up a car count (or track count) in the initial offering. One look at Gran Turismo 5's major failings are an excellent example of this.

I guess in the end as a consumer your damned if you do, or your damned if you don't.

That'd be SOP for T10.

1) Build up the hype machine.

2) Backtrack on including important features

3) Release some of said features on a future DLC, but not all of them.

4) Fail to listen to their very vocal, increasingly less loyal fans.

5) Disappoint everyone with an abrupt end to any future DLC/content inclusion

6) Repeat steps 1-5 for next title update.

I completely agree with you, but here's where it's ridiculous. I'm assuming that Microsoft will not raise the prices of their games (which, let's be honest, they probably will). So that means that Fiveza will cost $59.99. Fourza also cost $59.99 when it came out and featured between 400 and 500 cars (over 500 after DLC) and 26 tracks. Fiveza is releasing with 200 cars and 14 tracks. Now, first of all, I don't see 300 cars in it's DLC future and, secondly we've already (and only) been promised Nordschleife in January. So you're going to pay the same money for less than half the game?

Yes, it looks stunning but I prefer more content. 4 looked fantastic. 5 looks like they took 80% of their time on how it looks and then, at the last second, said "Shit! We need then to drive something more than the P1!".

That must be on their wall or something in the marketing department. But it is always a very abrupt end to DLC. It's like talking to someone who has a lot to say and then, mid-sentence, they just stop and stare at you. Like you should have known they were done speaking but they gave you no inclination of such.

well I've owned all the GTs and the even numbered titles have always been the best for each console. GT2>Gt1 on PS1, GT4>GT3 on PS2 and hopefully it holds true for the PS3

Kinja'd!!! Dusty Ventures > Osiris - I can haz Euro spec?
11/07/2013 at 12:55

Kinja'd!!!0

Nope. Playground was hired by Turn 10 to do the game development. Playground is made up of people who worked on games like PGR, Dirt, and Burnout, so they had more experience with developing games where things like traffic, interactive/destroyable scenery, and off course excursions are the norm. Turn 10 was still officially in charge as overseer, and they provided the vehicle data and driving physics so it would still feel like a Forza game, but officially Playground was the game developer and vast majority of the work.

Oh no doubt you are correct, and the excuse will be something along the lines of: "well we put in so much hard work in developing this new tech for the Xbox One, like Drivatar, the new graphics, etc." (when all actuality its probably just a juiced version of the Fourza engine), my rant about GT6 is (Full disclosure: yes I have already have a pre-order in for GT6 and I do currently own GT5, and I would still have Forza 4 and Horizon if wasn't for my crap ISP, long story) that they are already bragging about having almost 1200 cars, but to look at the list once again it is filled with a bunch of redundant cars, and I am almost sure that most will not be the premium cars that everyone really wants, just rehashed GT4 cars once again. But yet Polyphony Digital gets away with charging the same $59.99 as the Forza gang does, and they have already stated that they will be expanding DLC "opportunities" with GT6.

Nordschliefe is the name of the full 'ring, I don't think as many people as I would have guessed realize that.

And I actually love the GP circuit, it just takes some getting used to. I suppose I live for the challenge, anyone can be fast at Sebring or Laguna, it takes a lot to keep things under control in the off-camber or staying on throttle late enough into the chicane.

Yea. I can understand why people are getting annoyed with GT. 1200 cars? Looking at the list (which I haven't but I've heard) there's something like over 100 Miata's? That's ridiculous. Also, it would probably get really annoying trying to sift through 1200+ cars trying to find that one that you want to drive.

I've had them all from GT2. I was in 3rd grade when I had it and my friend and I would play every day for hours after school. He got all the licenses, because he was actually good, and I did the races because I became great a the "don't use brakes, just T-bone the guy cornering in front of you" technique. I was excited to see how much progress we had made, so I looked. 3%. We got the licenses, milked a high paying race, and bought all the cars we could.
We barely touched GT3, but we loved GT4 and took a more mature approach, while still B-specing the fuck out of some endurance races and making all sorts of money.
My GT buddy moved away and I plugged some serious hours into GT5. I'm level 32 in GT5 with a controller, but haven't really played it in ages. Between glitchy online, annoying standard cars, limited customization and lack of patience for endurance races, I have no desire to beat it, which is a shame.

There will probably be no sifting through the 1200 cars, more than likely it will be like the standard car section in GT5, where you hope that when or if the car you want (or need) shows up you happen to have the credits to buy it.

Loved the Forza franchise right on through 3 - then the wheels fell off so to speak.

I became disillusioned when T10 basically took the path of "car culture game" vs "racing sim". I left the game behind with a bad taste in my mouth - the "Hoppers", the lack of tuning options in MP, the crazy ass AWD conversions that were available on just about every car, the fact that M$ licensed racing wheels were god-awful expensive and couldn't be used on my PS3 or PC.

Whatever.....I still have fond memories of the game from the "good old days" but I find my racing thrills elsewhere now across triple screens on laser-scanned tracks.
